How can I build memories with my child who loves art?

My son comes home from school and doesn’t talk about his day. I ask him and all I get are answers like good, nothing happened, or I don’t know. It can be a struggle sometimes to form a bond with our children as they grow up and start to have their own lives. Have you ever thought about setting aside some time for an activity that the two of you share? My nephew and I love those paint by number kits. We set time aside to work together. While we’re busy painting, it gives us a chance to talk and share. Here are a few tips to help you create a similar experience with your little ones.
  • Make a standing appointment, it can be once a month, week or even daily if your schedule allows it.
  • Put it in your calendar and stick to it. It won’t be easy at first, but make it a priority. All you need is half an hour if your schedule is super busy.
  • You don’t need to sit down with a specific plan or outcome. Instead, let your child use their imagination and explore together.
  • Don’t worry about a perfect outcome, the purpose of this exercise is to play and have fun
  • Having that special time together will be a great way to bond, make memories and escape daily stressors.
Don’t stress yourself out over the end result or over whether or not you know how to paint. The point is not to create masterpieces. And if you need help coming up with ideas, here we have free drawing guides to help you get started.
